Traditionally, hemp has always been a crop used for making rope. In Normandy, hemp still is an important crop. It doesn’t require much water and can be grown in the same plot year after year.

Couleur Chanvre’s hemp fabrics are woven in the traditional weaving mills in the North of France. The threading and knotting of the loom alone takes two days. Once the production process is set in motion, it is under constant surveillance. There is no chemical treatment whatsoever, making it a purely organic product.

The hemp plant’s long and strong fibre combined with this weaving process results in a fabric that has a higher thread density than any other fabric of this kind. Not only does it make the material strong, but it also makes it elegant and nimble.
